Members of the EU parliament recommend recognizing MCS and EHS

The Parliamentary Assembly of COE( Council Of Europe ) has already recommended to do so as part of it's resolution from 2011 ( http://assembly.coe.int/Mainf.asp?link=/Documents/AdoptedText/ta11/ERES1815.htm). This is the first time that members from the Parliament of EU issue a declaration just for this issue.

In order for this declaration to be accepted by the EU parliament, 370 additional members have to sign.

So if you have a EU citizenship this is the time to call or write you MEP and ask him to support the declaration.

Anyway, this is a step forward and it will bring hope for all EHS and MSC victims out there.

The declaration:

1. Recommends that Member States which have not yet done so include MCS and EHS in their own ICDs and in their ILO-based Lists of Occupational Diseases; suggests that the WHO Assembly include MCS and EHS in its upcoming ICD-11;

2. Urges Member State governments to apply existing rules regarding EM radiation and exposure to harmful substances and to apply the precautionary principle strictly, with effective health and environmental measures, in order to immediately protect those affected, whose number is growing exponentially;

3. Suggests harmonising the rules on physical agents and harmful substances in the Member States, on the basis of the strictest existing criteria, and also placing controls on imported products;

4. Instructs its President to forward this declaration, together with the names of the signatories, to the Council, the Commission and the parliaments of the Member States.

Today (19/07/2011) a kick off convention for the "lobby for reasonable cellphone use" was held in the Knesset, the Israeli parliament. The convention and the lobby is lead by parliament member Juliya Shmalov-Berkovich. In the convention there were about 15 speakers (including PH.D. Zamir Shalita, BSC Ram dishon, Rony keller, Zvi Shevach, PH.D. Yael Stein, Mr. David Bar-Dror, Knesset members and myself) who gave short lectures and explanations. The aim of the lobby is to push for better cellphone's regulation and lows, to create and develop public awareness to the dangers of exposure to RF/cellphone radiation, to limit the use of cellphones by childrens, to include warning about possible health risk on cellphones, to make cellphone companies to send SMS messages with radiation warning every day, and to limit the why that cellphone companies will be able to publish their products, to develop and find ways to limit the public danger from cellphone radiation.

I was lucky to present a short presentation about the unknown side to radiation and about electromagnetic hyper sensitivity, It was the first time that an EHS person appeared in a meeting in the Israeli parlament and the first time that the issue of Electromagnetic Hyper sensitivity was addressed by other people in the convention.

Please note that Israel is a small country but it is the world leader on cellphone use, maybe we can also be world leader in awareness for EHS and RF/ELF dangers.

The WHO (http://www.who.int/en/) and IARC (http://www.iarc.fr/)resolution from last week about RF radiation being "POSSIBLY CARCINOGENIC TO HUMANS" is a, "Too little, (almost) too late" conclusion. All the science is available for many years now, and a more drastic conclusion should have been accepted years ago. It seems like the conditions for such a soft decision have lately become right as the science pointing out for risk and harm caused by "low power" RF signals like those that are emitted from cellphones, WIFI routers and other wireless devices and equipment, have piled up, and can no longer be rejected or ignored. The WHO and IARC have came under pressure by reality, and they could no longer hold their old view that there is no risk in exposure to RF radiation. The WHO and IARC holdup of their old views, until few days ago, allowed the deployment of wireless networks around the world, while exposing billions of people to this harming RF radiation. Millions of people have been hurt and millions more will be hurt because of this delay, and on the other hand the delay allowed wireless and Cellphone suppliers, manufacturers and distributors to continue, for years, to push back criticism about the safety of their products and services. The soft decision will allow wireless and Cellphone suppliers, manufacturers and distributors to continue to do so for several years until the public will push for a stricter resolution, laws, and regulations.

In the last 30 years the WHO and IARC, and other bodies, refused to even consider RF radiation has having any health effect other than a heating effect. Even today after the revolutionary resolution was accepted, the IARC and the WHO still do not admit, or accept, the science and proof that point out the facts that low level RF radiation can cause DNA breaks, break blood brain barrier, oxidant stress, and many more influences of RF and ELF radiation. Their view on the matter was that RF radiation that is emitted from cellphones and other wireless equipment does not have enough energy to cause real damages, and for years they continue to argue that (like a broken record) and while people got sick and paid a big price for the WHO lack of understanding. Some people would even say the WHO opinion was shaped by political and financial pressure from the industry.

The resolution came few days after the The Council of Europe called for dramatic reduction in EMF exposure ( http://www.powerwatch.org.uk/news/20110513-council-europe-resolution.asp), few weeks after a similar Russian committee recommend new mobile phone safety warnings for young people(http://www.powerwatch.org.uk/news/20110514-rncnirp.asp) and after a group of scientist said that "Stunning proof" about the link between cellphone and cancer was ignored for years. The resolution was based on the results of the interphone study (The intephone study that was finished in 2004 and which results were published after more than 5 years of delay in 2010 and which are consider to be a low assessment and show 40% increased risk to people who used the mobile phone for more than 27 minutes per day), 2 additional new studies that were just published and which are part of the interphone study () , several studies that were done by prof. Lennart Hardell, and a study that was done by Yael Stein and Elihu Richter from the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Medicine in Jerusalem (). All of these research showed a link between exposure to RF radiation and cancer.

In the next few years cellphone companies, manufacturers and distributors, backed up by paid science will try to buy more time on the expense of our health. They will argue that "cell phones today emit less RF radiation that they used to, and that new generations of cell phones will emit even less". They will try to discredit the science that shows the link between RF radiation and cancer, and will try to prove otherwise. They will do anything in their power to stop new laws and regulations that could protect the public and will then say that they act within laws and regulation. They will try to buy their way into committees and decision making boards and will try to influence the future, all so they can make an extra dollar before the public will understand the truth. We must do our best to show the truth and to prevent this from happening.

The WHO's old view from the WHO RF fact sheet: " To date, the only health effect from RF fields identified in scientific reviews has been related to an increase in body temperature (> 1 °C) from exposure at very high field intensity found only in certain industrial facilities, such as RF heaters. · Reduce and limit students' exposure to radiation sources from the electricity network.

· Radiation tests will be mandatory at the end of construction or maintenance work done on the electricity network and infrastructure in schools.

· The Ministry of Environment Protection will present a schedule for radiation tests in all schools and educational institutions to be completed within one year.

· The Ministry of Education will map all the classrooms and schools to find classrooms that are located near or next to a possible electrical radiation source and will deliver this info to the Ministry of Environment Protection who will use it to priorities these classes to be tested first (for radiation).

· Radiation Hazards found in schools will be reported to the construction department in the Ministry of Education.

· The report will include a description of the hazard, methods of treatment and repair.

· The construction department in the Ministry of Education will be responsible to deal with the problems found, including in some cases evacuation of students from problematic classrooms, and reporting the problems to the Israeli eclectic company and to the school in question so they will fix the problems.

· After fixing the problem the Ministry of Environment Protection may make a second test.

I hope that the government will soon adopt these recommendations.

I think that some radiation is still being emitted from the mobile phone, and since I think there is no safe level of EMR radiation than this is still bad.

In addition this kind of solutions can, at the end, encourage people to use their mobile phones, and by that will eventually increase the EMR levels that the public is exposed to both from the antenna and the mobile phone.

There is no magic solution for this issue. I guess that this green antenna can be part of a wider solution that will lower the radiation levels that the public is exposed to both from the mobile phone and from the antennas.

The first step is to admit that we have a problem, then try to reduce the usage, then try to create a safer solution.

Millions of people all over the world are already EHS and many more will become EHS as wireless communication use and abuse will spread, in the next few years. However some people still think EHS is a mental and not a physical disorder, This is really a shame and I think that such proclaims are based on people difficulty to believe something that they can't grasp or logically explain. As a EHS person I can assure you that EHS is a real physical disorder. I myself have several bind tests every day when I start to feel bad and then finding out that people across my office wall have been using their cell phones for the past few minutes.

New clip - radiation from a mobile phone and a wired earpiece.

In this movie clip I tried to answer the following question "is it true that when using a wired earpiece some of the mobile phones radiation is carried on the wire to the user head?"

In order to answer this question I did 2 measurements of the electromagnetic radiation 100 cm away from the phone, first with a wired earpiece and the second with using the speaker phone option of the phone.

In both measurements the mobile phone was places 100 cm away from the EMR meter. 100 cm is the max possible distance that a use can keep from the mobile phone when using a wired earpiece, because the length of the cable. The measurement does not represent the amount of radiation a "normal" user will be exposed to since most people hold the mobile phone in their hand or on their body while using the wired earpiece or the speaker phone option. A "safe user" should try to keep the mobile phone as far as possible from his body when using it.

The measurements show that when using the wired earpiece the user is exposed to more radiation when using the speaker phone option when the phone is 100 cm away from the head/meter. In both cases the radiation levels are a lot lower than when putting the mobile phone next to the users head. The measurement shows that some of the radiation emitted by the mobile phone is transferred over the earpiece wire to the user head.

In this hearing Dr Sigal Sedezki (IL) reports the finding of her study, which is part of the interphone study, that heavy cell phone use increases the chance of developing cancer on the same side of the head that the phone was used. Dr Davis (US) reported that the industry was using its power to hold back the reports of danger for year and years while continue to push for new devices, encouraging use and while expousing the public to real danger.
