DIY RF ALARM SYSTEM FOR YOUR HOUSE!!!

If you are an EHS person (Electromagnetic Hypersensitive person) you probably experienced before what if feels like when you open the door of your house and a person with a smartphone or other RF emitting device, come in to your house. At first you might not notice it, but after a while you will start feeling the pain.
In order to reduce the chance of that happening we need a RF ALARM SYSTEM that will go off when it will detect an RF signal.

It is possible to do it using the ENV RD10 that can beep when the RF levels are higher than 0.5mW/m2, or with the CORNET ED88TPLUS that sound the alarm when RF levels are higher than 0.18mW/m2. In the case of the CORNET ED88TPLUS  you can also add an external speakers that will make the alarm sound very loud.
Both the ENV RD10 and the CORNET ED88TPLUS can be used with an external power supply.

"Risk conception of WIFI and RF on Israeli public and media" - Study and conference 02-2019

On the last Sunday, the 10/02/2019 I took part of a conversion in Tel Aviv Center for Science Education (HEMDA - Schwartz-Reisman Science Education Center - http://www.hemda.org.il/). The reason for this conversion was a study on the the Conception of the risk from wireless radiation by the public and in paticilure of of the risk from WIFI infrastructure in schools. The study was funded by the ministry of Technology and science in Israel. The Study was set to examine the conception of the risk from wireless radiation and WIFI routers in the public the the influence of the Media, mainly TV over the public conception  of the risk, and the way this conception appear on the online media. The researches said again and again that this is not a study on the risk but on it's conception by the public and appearance on the Israeli media and TV.
It is important to note that the organizers of the convention knew who I am and what my views are and since the conference was opened to the public they did not block me from taking part.

From reading the study, the article about it in the press, it is very clear that the opinion of the study team is that there is no  possibility that RF radiation can cause damage or health risk.
The Conference it self also started according to this concept and according to it, until it was revealed that it might not be the case.
The climent in the conference was that the Television media was to blame for the misconception of the risk from EMF in the public eye. In particular one show from 2016, took the fire ( I took part in this TV article alongside other EHS people, activist and scientists, please see with english CC at - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpJsIWuV-PA&feature=youtu.be).  This TV article had a big echo in Israel , and lots of EHS people understand the source of their pain and contacted me and other members of the Israeli EHS community to seek help and support.

I see the study and the conference as an attempt to do 2 things:
1. Put pressure on the media not to broadcast more Tv articles about EMF risk, cell phone risk, WIFI risk and about EHS.
2. Make a point that there is no possible health effect to EMF exposure (once again) and to put those that argue that there is in a shady light.

The conference started with the lecture of ENG Moshe Netzer, which is a leading Israeli Radiation specialist who works in this field for more than 40 years and regarded one of the top professionals in the technical field of EMF measurement and protection. It was very clear from his lecture that Moshe does not support the possibility that EMF can push any danger in the low levels of WIFI. He did however, admitted in a way that it is almost impossible to measure WIFI in classes, but he linked that to the low level of the radiation and not to the use of slow RF meters with 2-5 samples each second.
Eng. Netzer also told the crowd that he was able to convince a local city council to install WIFI routers in schools when he presented them with the very low levels of RF measured from WIFI routers.

Next lecture was from PhD Uri Lerner about the precautionary principle, and about the possibility that warning the public might cause more damage then the polluter it self (Nocebo effect).

Next lecture was by Prof' Stelian Gelberg about the approach and way that the ministry of Environment protection handle this issue. Prof' Stelian is the head of Radiation and Noise department in the ministry of Environmental protection in Israel. Prof' Stelian said in the past, to a Knesset committee that non-ionizing radiation can cause biological damage but in his lecture there was almost no sign of this understanding. Those with a good ear could find some clues to that in his answers to the open questions.

Next lecture was by PhD graduate Keren Daliot who conducted the study. He lecture was on the study and the results. Again it was clear that the study was done based on the assumption that WIFI radiation and RF radiation can cause not health effect.

At this point the lectures part of the night was over and the panel members were introduced and took their sit on the stage. The panel was hosted by Miss Sivan Klingbail from the TV show "Osut Hesbon" ("Making the math" a TV consumer show that did several reports of EMF and cell phone radiation last few years). The guest speakers were Prof Barak Fishbain, Prof' Ayelet Barnea-Tzubery, the journalist Aviv Lavi ( that did several articles on EMF and EHS in the last few years), and Miss Hadas Wagman from Tnuda (who should be working closely with Prof' Sigal Sedesky),

In the beginning of the panel it looked as if it is more of a tribunale judging the media about airing TV reports about EMF health risk and EHS. Most of the fire was aimed to the Ch2 from 2016 that got the popolistic name "how are we killing ourselves: Radiation" (please see link above).  I see this criticism as an attempt to put pressure on the TV media not to bring forward future reports about the possible health risk of EMF and about EHS. I think that EHS in particular creates a lot of anger in people that don't believe there can be any health risk to RF or EMF.  If our condition is caused by exposure to EMF, it can be the prof they would not like to see, so they put the Nocebo effect as the cause of EHS and try to fight back when we try to warn others. 

The panel, as the lectures before it, seemed to conduct the discussion under the assumption that there is no chance that EMF , RF or WIFI can cause a health risk.  This was suddenly interrupted when Journalist Aviv Lavi said "But this is not what Sidesky said". Lavi said that he had a lot of time with Sidesky during several interviews he did with her and that he have heard her say that there might be a risk, that we still don't know how it is caused or how much the risk, that there is a debay about the possible risk  and that giving a cell phone to a child is child abuse.  This view of Prof' Sedisky was brought to the public several times during TV Interviews with her (for example here - https://youtu.be/IVvfDNlZoaw?t=96 and here - https://news.walla.co.il/item/2965687 both in hebrew).

From here on the discussion continued with that in mind. I think that this remark by Aviv Lavy stopped the attacks made on the media and the discussion moved to what we can do to reduce the exposure. 

On the open question part we (me and 2 other EHS/Activist and one nonEHS activist) asked question. My question to Prof' Ayelet Barnea-Tzubery was "do you think your position that there is no possible risk to EMF exposure, that we now understand is not the opinion of all the scientists in this field,  influenced the data gathering and processing in this study",  she answered a quick "No, we had to people examining the data in a binary way" , I replied "yes but both believe there is no risk.

The other activist also asked questions. 

At the end of the panel discussion, the host asked Prof' Stelian Gelberg to answer "Yes" or "No" to the question can she sleep with no worries about the WIFI use in schools. He paused for few seconds and then gave a short lecture about the ministry activity in ELF-M, RF from mobile phone masts, and WIFI in schools, closing it up with "of course". I understand his answers as "we are doing what we can".

International call for revoking the ICNIRP's mandate and for better standards

A call for better protective standards , revoking the mandate of ICNIRP is made by more than 244 scientists from around the world after ICNIRP ports it's draft for updates on it's Radiofrequency so called safety standards (a quick look reveals nothing is changed, the standards are still note protective of humans , protective of the industry and are based only on heat effect of the radiation).

about 60% of the students in ORT HOLON are suffering from RF Radiation sickness due to a cell tower 20 meters from the school!

According to videos and publications done by the parents of this school students (ages 12-18), it seems that about 60% of the students already suffer from headache, nausea and other symptoms of RF Radiation Sickness.
RF Radiation test reports shows average levels of up to 6uW/cm2 in the school.
The parents started a stick.
The City of Holon offered to install Temp RF protection on the windows of the classes that face the antenna. It seems that it brought a 90% reduction in RF levels.

This is possible because the high non-protective RF so called safety standards that allow up to 400-1000 uW/cm2. This is because of the ministry of environment protection policy to comply with ICNIRP standards.  Until RF safety standards will be based on Biological damage and health effect of RFR, we will see this happen again and again all over the world.

5G is coming (to Israel TV and PR reports)

One exception was a TV report aired in Israeli Ch10 last week. This report review the technology, but also gave some info about the possible health risk of the cellular technology. In the report Adit Aaron, who believes here head tumor was caused by cell phone use, PhD Yael Stain, and Prof Ben Ishai were interviewed. A video of Adit during here third head surgery saying that her tumor was caused by cell phone use and that she is worried about the future of the children was included. PhD Yael Stain talked about the health effect of RF while Prof Ben Yishai talked about the findings of his study RF radiation with 5G frequency.

ICNIRP does it again - rejecting the finding of NTP and Ramzini studies that RF radiation may cause and promote cancer

The ICNIRP does it again - rejecting the finding of NTP and Ramzini studies that RF radiation may cause and promote cancer.

Microwave news report that ICNIRP has released a 8 pages note that try to explain why these studies' findings will not effect the old, non protective standard for RF exposure.
By that ICNIRP prove once again that the role it chose to play is to protect the industry from any update of the easy to follow, non protective RF exposure guidelines. These non protective guidelines were written in 1998, that don't cover health and biological damage from RF exposure and that take into consideration only immediate damage from the rise of temperature due to RF exposure.

The trick they use is repeated every once in a while when a new study find evidence that RF radiation exposure can cause or promote cancer or damage health in any other way.
They use the magic words : "inconsistent" and " unreliable"  to undermine the findings while accepting and promoting studies that show a safer picture, even if  provem worn (for example the Danish cohort study)

ICNIRP prove it self once again as the inadequate, baise  and irrelevant.

Therefore I suggest to change "ICNIRP" name to "ICNIRIP".
It is a small change that will bring more "reliability" to the group.

New Polsing Radio Frequency Radiation in Israel - 02-05-2018

High levels of  Radio Frequency  Radiation pulsing  in Zichron Yaakov,  Israel, Coming from  the north or west (sea),  2-5-2018.
In this area the levels are usually  around  0.5-1  mW/m2, 044-0.62V/m. In the video you can see levels as high as 29mW/m2 (3.3V/m in the CORNET ED88T) and 36.3mW/m2(3.7V/m in the Acosticom AM-10 meter).
I am guessing this could be navy radars, some kind of measuring system, a ground-see missile defence system, or other.

City of Herzeliya deploy LED light with wireless RF technology

Few weeks back I went to Herzliya, were I used to live for about 7 years. On this visit I saw that the street lights on the street my old house stands, were upgraded to led lights. On top of the reflector I saw something that on first glance looked to me as a small RF antenna.
I looked it up tonight and it seems to be true.
I found a brochure from one of the manufacturer's noting that the communication was from one street light to the other and to a main controller in 2.4GHz:

I did not have the chance to test the RF radiation from these poles. I don't know if they radiate all the time, once in few seconds, minutes or hours.

Active RF tracking devices in Hospitals (including on newborns)

Yesterday I talked to one of my former managers (from my time at the high tech industry). He is asked me some questions about measuring low radiation RF devices. During this conversation I was reminded that in hospitals and clinics around the globe, including Israel, there is a growing use of WIFI based devices and equipment. Including in nurseries. This was something I new about but that I would rather forget. The medical system is going through a wireless revolution of it's own. Back around 2000, doctors in hospitals in Israel were issued GSM cellphones (which they were still in use in 2014 when my younger doughtier was born). Around that time micro-cells antennas were deployed in all hospitals in Israel.

Between 2012 (when my older doughier was born) and 2014, WIFI routers were deployed in the hospitals, to be followed with the use of wireless laptops and tablets (by the medical crew).

Now I learned that there are WIFI based tracking safety tags and bracelets that allow the medical team to track the were-about of the patients and their basic medical status. I also learned that they are used on newborns. A quick search of the internet presented several videos about such devices.

Even that the need seems to be realistic and important, I am sure this can be done with passive or none RF technology. I my self am very worried from the use of RF emitting devices and heavy exposure to RF in Hospitals. But in the world that everything is going wireless, which people are addicted to their WIFI and cellphones while unaware of the possible health risk, where kids are given a cellphone or tablet since they are 3 mounts old ("look at him operating this thing, mommy's genius") , when WIFI and wireless technology are present in every house, building, public space, public transportation and mistakenly identified as progress, this type of thing is bond to happen.

Feeling the vibration of your cellphone when it is not there or not on vibration mode?

Researches from the Georgia Institute of Technology, published a study in which they say that 90% of the people can feel a phantom vibration feeling when the smartphone is not in their pocket.

I think they are wrong. I think it has nothing to do with the vibration feature of the phone. I think the effect is caused by the RF and ELF radiation emitted from the smartphone while on idle mode, in which it keeps transmitting in the case the 3G/4G Data, WIFI and Bluetooth are On or when getting an SMS or when receiving a phone call.
This radiation cause the creation of currents over the nerves and next to muscles, by that causing a vibration feeling even when the phone is not in vibration mode.
Later on when the person gets the smartphone out of his body, the feeling continues as a phantom feeling.

Deployment of Electrical Smart Meters have started in Israel

Last week the Israeli Electric Company declared that it is about to deploy smart meters (without saying in which technology) in 34000 house holds in 4 main cities in Israel.
2 days ago, I was able to film several Wireless Electric Smart Meters in Tel Aviv Israel.
This mark the start of the deployment of Electric Wireless Smart Meters in Israel.

From what I saw it transmit for 5 seconds, then quit for 3 seconds and then transmit for 5 seconds...for ever, 24X7.

RF emission from Air Condition system - The internet of things is coming at you!

Few weeks ago we visit friends of us that live outside the city. We go there once every couple of weeks. It is a low RF environment, and the only problem is the airplanes flying above on their approach for landing in a nearby air port.
When we got there the guy, Ori, showed me their new air condition system and praised it. I did not pay to much attention.  During this visit I developed a serious headache, which was more that what I expected to feel from the airplanes over passing. I came back home feeling very sick. took me more than a night sleep to recover.
2 weeks ago, we visit them again. This time I was ready. I brought my EMF meter , the CORNET ED78S. As soon as we arrived I started searching for new RF devices inside the house. The meter showed a bit higher RF levels in the house, in comparison to the background level. I scanned the walls searching for the device that created these levels. After a few seconds I found it. It was their new SAMSUNG Air Condition. It seems that it has a WIFI control feature that allow you to control it from your smart phone. The Air Condition system emitted short RF transmissions every couple of seconds. The RF transmission was emitted as long as the Air Condition was connected to the power lines, even when the system was turned off.
I tried to take the cover apart and to find the WIFI card in the air condition but was unsuccessful (for now).

The Air condition system is part of a overgrowing line of products, that used to be "no risk" for EHS people as they did not emitted any RF, and that are now being "upgraded" to have WIFI capabilities both for control functions and communication. It is nicked name "The Internet of Things". Along this line you can find light bulbs with wireless capabilities, refrigerators, smart TVs,  DVB-T set-top boxes, smart remote controls, security cameras and many more.

Our recommendation is to avoid buying these products and to keep you house clear of RF emitting devices.

Does 5 nano watt per cm2 is a lot of radiation? Depends how you look at it!

In Israel (and maybe in other countries as well) When you ask for a professional RF tester to test the RF radiation levels in your house (coming from a cellphone tower nearby), it is most likely that her will write in the report "less than 0.1 uW/cm2" ( Some testers will write any value, even if very low). The opinion of the ministry of environmental protection, and of most testers, is that 0.1 uW/cm2 is very low and that there are no health effects, what so ever, in such low levels.
I, as an EHS person, know that they are wrong, and even levels bellow 0.1 uW/cm2 can cause damage and are not healthy.

But first, I must add that most professional testers in Israel operate their meters in such a way that the level is being average over the time of the measurement (this is protocol here). This cause the levels to drop considerably. I believe that the meters should be operated in Max Peak value so they will report the peaks and not the average.

In addition I have many doubts of the wide ban meters ability to sum up all the signals across the frequency range. I think this is because of their limitations and the way they operate. My professional opinion and estimation is that most wide band RF meters can't add and sum up all, and not even most, of the RF signal across the band. I think that the number of signals across the band have a very big impotency in the estimation of the possible risk RF exposure hold, and this number is being over look in most cases. In order to "see" these singles you need to use a spectrum analyzer and not a wide band meter.

In order to prove my point, I took my home use RF meter, a simple RF spectrum analyzer (RF EXPLORER), a camera, and walked to the next street cross. From that street cross and over the building roof tops, a cellphone's mast, with 3 sets of antennas, was visible, about 400 meters a way from me. The time of the measurement was a bit after 15:00, in a small neighborhood in the center of Israel.


The RF meter , after several seconds of measurement, showed the max level of 0.0539 mW/m^2, which is 0.00539 uW/cm^2, which is 5.39 nW/cm^2:

At first look it looks as a very low level, right?
But what hides behind this "low level"?
How many signals are combined to this "low level" and what is their level"

In order to answer these questions, I pulled out my home use RF spectrum analyzer, The RF EXPLORER. I configured it to sweep between 1800MHz and 2400MHz, and in MAX HOLD mode so the max sampled signal was kept on the screen until a stronger single replaced it.  The picture that was created after few seconds showed at least 7 RF signals, pretty much in similar levels. I can only assume that every one of these signals is complexes out of many short band signals. This is how it looks:

As I said before, when you look on the frequency span, the RF radiation does not look so "low level" does it (and this is just a small part of the full band. I assume that in the other parts there are many other signals, maybe hundreds)?

Every one of these signals, may interfere with biological system in general and our nerve system in particular.

Every one of these signals is not natural, in fact the natural RF level should be around -110 dBms (if I am not mistaken). 

So what does a measurement with a wide band RF meter is good for?

What does it shows?
Does it show the strongest signal, or maybe few of them?
What would a measurement done with a slow RF meter, that was calibrated according to single signals and was operated in average mode will show?

P.S. - I still think that a home use RF meter is the easiest-cheapest-fastest way to "see" radiation, but we must keep in mind that it "shows" us only part of the picture. Regarding professional testing done in Israel, it shows what they want us to see, a partial-calming picture.

1. Safety standards are still not set according to the non-ionizing protection law.
2. The ministry of education did not set clear guidelines for EMF testing of indoor EMF sources in schools and kindergartens.
3. Electric cabinets are not mapped (EMF radiation wise) in schools and kindergartens.
4. EMF tests, both RF and ELF, are not done in all schools and kindergartens as they should by the Local municipal.
5. The ministry of Education and the Local municipal are misconducting the safety regulation over schools and kindergartens.
6. Safety surveys of RF radiation emitted from cell phones antenna, which outcomes are updated in a maps and databases of the ministry of environment protection and are opened and presented to the public, are payed for directly by the cellphone companies.
