The Israeli government is confused about wireless technologies.

People from around the world asked me in the past few days if 4G was banded in Israel.

No, it was not officially banded .

As far as I know there is an ongoing litigation about advanced cellphone use (when the low suit was issued, by the forum for sane cellphone use, it was about 3G video, Internet and data, but now it seems to be about 4G) in the Supreme Court ( http://www.calcalist.co.il/local/articles/0,7340,L-3105745,00.html ) .

In addition the ministry of environmental protection and the ministry of health are calling for a public debate before further deployment of 4G, LTE and WIMAX technologies ( Hebrew post, please use translator - http://www.tapuz.co.il/blog/ViewEntry.asp?EntryId=1912699 )

So for the time being, there is no commercial 4G network in Israel, yet.

One of the cellphone companies has announces few months ago that it started to deploy 4G network, but since then there was no news on this issue (http://norad4u.blogspot.com/2011/12/4g-cell-network-to-be-deployed-by.html).

The government in Israel is acting in two opposite directions regarding the wireless issue. From one side warning about the use of cell phone and other wireless devices where issued by the ministry of health and the ministry of environment protection, and on the other hand it seems that wireless technologies are being deployed and pushed to the public with the approval of the government, sometimes by the government and municipal governments .

For example, this is the case with WIFI in schools, where a comity (with representatives from ministry of health, the ministry of environment protection and the ministry of education) issued a report that 'call" for wired Internet in schools, and according to its' report mobile phone use was limited in schools ( (Hebrew posts, please use translator - http://www.tapuz.co.il/blog/ViewEntry.asp?EntryId=2125366). But this report does not band WIFI, and It says that the IARC resolution is not "strong" and that it is not widely excepted. They go ahead saying that we need to act according to the "precautionary principle" without saying what it is. After this report was issues a different division of the ministry of education started the deployment and installation of WIFI networks in schools around the country (Hebrew posts, please use translator - http://www.tapuz.co.il/blog/ViewEntry.asp?EntryId=2286852 , http://www.tapuz.co.il/blog/ViewEntry.asp?EntryId=2203335 ) .

Another example of this is the warning that were issues a while ago on cellphone and wireless devices use, both by the ministry of Health and of environmental protection ( http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/business/cordless-phones-emit-as-much-radiation-as-cell-phones-1.303349 ). Later on that year, the ministry of Communication pushed for 2 additional 3G cellphone networks (Hebrew post, please use translator - ) and for WIFI in cities around Israel ( Hebrew post, please use translator - http://www.tapuz.co.il/blog/ViewEntry.asp?EntryId=2225950 ) . In addition to that wireless water smart meters are being deployed in Israel as we speak, again very quietly… sh…sh…sh…the public is sleeping!

Some people here say that what the ministry of environment and health are doing is deliberately in order to show to the public that they are doing all they can about this issue, while still allowing the wide spread of wireless technologies.

On the Knesset front (the Israeli parliament) there are several MK that are trying contently working to create new lows regarding public awareness of the danger from wireless technologies and protection of the public from the non heat related health effect. Leading this group are MK Yulia Shamalov Berkovich and Dov Khenin who purposed a new low that will require health warning labels to be put on cellphones (http://norad4u.blogspot.com/2012/03/new-bill-that-will-require-health.html) . On the other hand MK Meir Shitrit is pushing for a low that require the installation of WIFI router in all public building (Hebrew post, please use translator - http://www.tapuz.co.il/blog/ViewEntry.asp?EntryId=2289156&r=1 ).

I think the government is very confused. I think most of them never measured the RF levels from a wireless router, several laptops working in the same room, smart meters, cellphone antenna, cell phones, and any other RF or ELF sources. I think that none of them is an EHS, none of them suffered from RF or ELF EMR. I think that they know only a small part of the science proof for the damage caused by RF and ELF EMR, and even if they do know it, their interpretation is wrong. I think they are all very limited in their views, knowledge and actions.

But on the other hand I am very naïve; maybe all of this is just a very big spin!

For now it seems that the comity will not include people that understand the health effect of RF, it will not include any representative of "The Israeli forum for reasonable cellphone use" (http://www.cellularshafuy.org.il/ ) or other RF health risk awareness activist or promoters.

From what I know the comity will include several people that are "pro industry", and several which I believe know about RF health risk but don't share their views in the public (fearing to be "cut off").

I do still hope the comity will not be a tool that will make cellphone kosher.

EMR awareness lessons in Israeli elementary schools

A special constructed EMR awareness program was launched last week in the elementary school of the city/town of shoham Israel. The below program looks great, but the question is how it is possible to put WiFi in schools and at the same time to teach the pupils to be careful of radiation. The problem is also as reading Samuel Epstein taught me (he refers to cancer specifically, this is a different case but same principle)- - exposing pupils and at the same time telling them they need to change their habits, is an attitude of blaming the victims.

· Reduce and limit students' exposure to radiation sources from the electricity network.

· Radiation tests will be mandatory at the end of construction or maintenance work done on the electricity network and infrastructure in schools.

· The Ministry of Environment Protection will present a schedule for radiation tests in all schools and educational institutions to be completed within one year.

· The Ministry of Education will map all the classrooms and schools to find classrooms that are located near or next to a possible electrical radiation source and will deliver this info to the Ministry of Environment Protection who will use it to priorities these classes to be tested first (for radiation).

· Radiation Hazards found in schools will be reported to the construction department in the Ministry of Education.

· The report will include a description of the hazard, methods of treatment and repair.

· The construction department in the Ministry of Education will be responsible to deal with the problems found, including in some cases evacuation of students from problematic classrooms, and reporting the problems to the Israeli eclectic company and to the school in question so they will fix the problems.

· After fixing the problem the Ministry of Environment Protection may make a second test.

I hope that the government will soon adopt these recommendations.

How to stop a scientist

What will you do, as an executive of a company, when a scientist is about to repeat a study that shows that your product might have some health issues?

Option 1 – try to understand the study and fix the product.

Option 2 – Try and stop the study from being repeated, mmm this is much quicker and much cheaper!

How to do it?

Step 1 - wait until the researcher is on holiday or sick with limited access to emails and info about what is going on in his labs.

Step 2 – offer the institute in which the researcher is working an offer it can't refuse. Offer some money donation for new labs if and when the researcher will be stopped or at least delayed.

Step 3 – When the researcher will return and understand what is going on, give him the explanation that it is just a temporary delay and for the benefit of the institute. Offer him a smaller lab that will take a while to build up.

The radiation issues in hybrid cars are turning to be a real thing. Reports from around the world about measurements of high radiation levels are coming out.

All "regular" cars radiate from low frequency electromagnetic sources like the alternator, car's electric system, and the layers. In hybrid and electric cars you have to add also the electric motors, the electric batteries, and the power conductor from the batteries to the motors.

Millions of people all over the world are already EHS and many more will become EHS as wireless communication use and abuse will spread, in the next few years. However some people still think EHS is a mental and not a physical disorder, This is really a shame and I think that such proclaims are based on people difficulty to believe something that they can't grasp or logically explain. As a EHS person I can assure you that EHS is a real physical disorder. In this movie clip I tried to answer the following question "is it true that when using a wired earpiece some of the mobile phones radiation is carried on the wire to the user head?"

In order to answer this question I did 2 measurements of the electromagnetic radiation 100 cm away from the phone, first with a wired earpiece and the second with using the speaker phone option of the phone.

In both measurements the mobile phone was places 100 cm away from the EMR meter. 100 cm is the max possible distance that a use can keep from the mobile phone when using a wired earpiece, because the length of the cable. The measurement does not represent the amount of radiation a "normal" user will be exposed to since most people hold the mobile phone in their hand or on their body while using the wired earpiece or the speaker phone option. A "safe user" should try to keep the mobile phone as far as possible from his body when using it.

The measurements show that when using the wired earpiece the user is exposed to more radiation when using the speaker phone option when the phone is 100 cm away from the head/meter. In both cases the radiation levels are a lot lower than when putting the mobile phone next to the users head. The measurement shows that some of the radiation emitted by the mobile phone is transferred over the earpiece wire to the user head.

In this hearing Dr Sigal Sedezki (IL) reports the finding of her study, which is part of the interphone study, that heavy cell phone use increases the chance of developing cancer on the same side of the head that the phone was used. Dr Davis (US) reported that the industry was using its power to hold back the reports of danger for year and years while continue to push for new devices, encouraging use and while expousing the public to real danger.
