New Israeli study - More Hemolymphatic Cancers & multiple cancers, younger age of diagnosis in 47 cancer patients working with RFR

A new Israeli study that was published in the Environmental Research, Volume 163, May 2018, Pages 123-133.  The study was done by Michael Peleg,   Or Nativ,  Elihu D.

The study showed that there were more Hemolymphatic cancers than expected in patients who were exposed to RFR emitting technology (like Radio and Radar). Their age of diagnosis was younger than in all cancer patients and the number of multiple cancer cases was also higher in the study patients than in general cancer patient population. 

The study analyzed in detail 47 cancer patients that used to work in the military or industry with and around strong RFR emitting equipment such as radar.
All Patients had cancer.
19 of them had hemolymphatic cancers.
That is 40%, while in non exposed cancer patients population the percentage of hemolymphatic cancers is only 23%.
6 patients (12.8%) in this study had multiple primary cancers, as compared with roughtly approximated 2.8% in the general Israeli cancer patients population. 
The average age of the patients included in this study (when diagnosed with cancer) was 33 years. The average age in which cancer is diagnosed in patients in Israel is 65.
Most of the patients' exposure was to RFR with some patients also exposed to ELF. The researches verified that the patient exposure to RFR only exhibited the same high results. 
The researches then compared their outcomes with other similar studies done in the past. They found very similar association between RFR exposure to hemolymphatic cancers in 4
groups of patients in three countries. The consistent association between RFR exposure and
high Hemolymphatic cancer risks, together with other evidence, form a case for causation of the Hemolymphatic and other cancers by RFR.

2 words and lots of PR soft the finding of a 25 million $ study that find cell phone radiation is not healthy for you. This is my headline after reading the first 12 pages of the 2 summaries of the NTP study published this month.
The Study found the following main findings:

1. Higher ratio of Glioma in the mail rates that were exposed.
2. Higher radio of Swanova of the heart (cancer in the similar cells as in the case of acoustic neuroma).
3. Precancerous conditions in rats and mice that were exposed.
4. Smaller wait for offsprings
5. Evidence of DNA breaks in exposed animals. 

The 2 words that play a crucial part in downgrading the outcomes of the NTP study, and I am guessing were inserted to the summary of the study by a PR professional or someone who wanted to downgrade that all study, are "equivocal" and "some". accompanied to the word "evidence" they  light a shady light on the outcomes. These words not only downgrade the outcomes of the study, they also present the all study as doubtful, dubious & unreliable.

In cases that the study showed statistically unsignificant results (but still a risk) or that he risk was seen in only one exposure group they used the term - "equivocal evidence" (please see in the picture below undermarked with a  Red line).

In cases that the study showed statistically significant result or that the risk was seen in most exposure groups, they used the term -  "some evidence" (please see in the picture below undermarked with a  purple line) .

FDA, FCC and other Non-ionizing damage demiers PR claim the study outcomes show that as they suspected the risk is not too high. They also point out that in their opinion the exposure was higher than every day users are exposed to.
I read some articles that actually argue that their understanding of the NTP results is that  "cell phone use makes you lose weight and increase your lifespan.

The PR of this article turned the facts around. The  NTP is a study that show DNA DAMAGE in life mammals(!!!) due to cellphone radiation exposure. It shows procarcinogenic condition in exposed animals(!!!). It shows higher cancer rates of Glioma and acoustic neuroma in exposed rates (!!!).

Regardless of the PR, I hope that when this study will be discussed in closed rooms of the IARC and other scientific bodies, it will contribute to the understanding that cell phone radiation is a clear carcinogenic.  

Ministry of health and the Israeli Cancer association say "mobile phone not link to cancer"

Yesterday, 29/01/2018, the "Israeli Ministry of Health", together with the "Israeli Cancer Association" hosted a press conference in which they gave a glimpse over the data of the Israeli Cancer registry in 2014. They claimed that the number of brain tumors did not increase in the last two decades, and they applied or suggested that this prove that cell phone use do not cause cancer.

I myself think that the assumption by the Israeli Ministry of Health and the Israeli Cancer Association is both wrong, misleading  and Irresponsible.

A. It is not a study, just data from the Israeli cancer registrator up to 2014, that was shared with comments and opinions.
B. When looking at the link between cancer and cell phone use, one must look at the number of new cancers per year for the type of cancer cellphone is considered responsible or a promoter (glioma, acoustic aroma, salivary gland and thyroid gland). The data from the registry looks on all brain cancers together.
C.  In addition when I look at the data from the registry (I have access to 1980-2013 and not to 2014) I see that the base level over which the numbers changes every year, has changed and is now higher than before.
Since 2000 the numbers are steady, but between 1980 and 2000 there is a slow increase.

New study from the NTP link cell phone radiation and cancer

The study showed that some of the rates that were exposed to RF (GSM and CDMA) developed Glioma and malignant Schwannoma of the heart. Non of the "not exposed" rates developed these tumors.

The rate were divided into 4 groups of exposure  SAR 0 (control), 1.5, 3 and 6. 

The exposure was for 2 years, 18 hours a day, 10 minutes On , 10 minutes Off.

The study is not the first that show these kind of results. But it is the first US government study that show them. This is the most important thing about this study, not the cost of the study, not the rates of cancer found, not the flaws or strong points. The only thing that counts is that this US government study actually prove what was seen on other non government studies and disprove the misleading believe that the only possible effect of non ionizing radiation such as RF is heat.

This might indeed be "a game changer" or at least a very big brick in the wall.

High levels of ELF magnetic fields were found in a school in which 9 teachers were diagnose with cancel, and an EHS refugee case in Israel

Today I was interviews to the IDF radio, regarding a 9 cases of cancer in a school in Bear Sheva , where ELF magnetic fields testing found high levels of ELF EMF and about a case of EHS refugee. The EHS refugee was also interviewed in this broadcast.

The case of the school, appeared today on the leading Israeli news website. 9 teachers in that school were diagnosed with cancer in the past few years. Lately ELF magnetic test done in the school found high levels or ELF magnetic field, between 7-32 mG. Some of the classes, rooms and offices in this school were evacuated. It is unknown if the high level caused the cancer or not, but the high levels probably did not make it better.

As far as ELF magnetic field, the recommendations in Israel are fairly low (Daily average of 4mG , and Yearly average of 2mG, I don't approve with the averaging over time), and the tests are simple so, most of the time, the tests will expose the problems if exist. In RF EMF, the standard is very high (10% of ICNRIP) and the testing equipment is not sensitive and very slow so, even if there are  relatively high RF levels they are not found or reported.

New Israeli study may link cellphone use and Thyroid cancer

An article in one of Israeli leading news paper "Haaretz" (http://www.haaretz.com/news/national/israeli-scientists-find-possible-link-between-cellphone-use-thyroid-cancer.premium-1.507552) introduced a new study done in Israel that found that Thyroid cells partition accelerates when radiated by RF source similar (in wave and strength) to a cellphone. This could be a new link between cellphone use and Thyroid cancer.

In addition the article presents statistics about the rise of Thyroid cancer in Israel between 1990 and 2007:

1.       Jewish women – 67%

2.       Non Jewish women – 250%

3.       Jewish men (since 2000) – 41%

The "International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation" is influenced by the industry, some of its' members and leaders work for the electric, electronic or cellphone industries. The ICNIRP does not run studies. ICNIRP just write high none biologic, so called, safety standard that takes into consideration only heat effect of the radiation and none of the biological effects.

The Interphone study – 80% elevated risk

The INTERPHONE study found that people that used the mobile phone for more than 27 minutes a day for 10 years had 40% elevated risk for getting one type of brain tumor. If you look at appendix 2 of it, which try to correct the bias control group, the elevated risk goes up to 80%.

PARTNER, one of the top 3 Israeli cell phone companies, will pay 400000 NIS (~US$100000) to a Cancer victim that prosecute Partner because the company did not warn agents cell phone use in shelter rooms (with reinforced concrete). The Cancer victim is a law attorney who used 2 cellphones in his office which was in a shelter room, since 2003. The attorney was diagnosed with lymphoma right above the left ear where he used to hold his phone when talking.

New bill that will require health related warning for cell phone past the first vote in the Israeli parliament

New bill that will require health related warning for cell phone past the preliminary vote( 3 more votes to go until final approval) in the Knesset (Israeli parliament). The new bill was issued by MK Yulia Shamalov Berkovich and Dov Khenin will require all cellphones that are sold in Israel, and all advertisements to will be published and displayed in Israel, to have a label with health warning.

The text of the warning will be "Warning - the Health Ministry cautions that heavy use and carrying the device next to the body may increase the risk of cancer, especially among children."

So far it seems the bill will have the support of the environmental protection and the health ministry, but might be blocked by the communication and economic ministry. It is also expected to raise the objection of cellphone companies that will not want the public to fear from extensive cellphone use.

The new bill is important since it will warn the public from excessive cellphone use and also because it will increase awareness to RF health risks.

High Magnetic fields in Or-Akiva Israel, florescent tubes lighted under power lines

On a TV show in Israel Dr zamir shalita and Liran Raz were able to repeat the experiment that florescent tubes are lighted with out electricity, when being in a strong (above 15 mGouse) magnetic field under High voltage power lines in Or-Akiva, Israel. The residence in the street near the lines live in 35 to 80 mG magnetic fields and suffer for cancer, abortions, migrants, headaches and other side effects of ELF magnetic fields.

Kick off convention for the "lobby for reasonable cellphone use", Knesset-Israel

Today (19/07/2011) a kick off convention for the "lobby for reasonable cellphone use" was held in the Knesset, the Israeli parliament. The convention and the lobby is lead by parliament member Juliya Shmalov-Berkovich. In the convention there were about 15 speakers (including PH.D. Zamir Shalita, BSC Ram dishon, Rony keller, Zvi Shevach, PH.D. Yael Stein, Mr. David Bar-Dror, Knesset members and myself) who gave short lectures and explanations. The aim of the lobby is to push for better cellphone's regulation and lows, to create and develop public awareness to the dangers of exposure to RF/cellphone radiation, to limit the use of cellphones by childrens, to include warning about possible health risk on cellphones, to make cellphone companies to send SMS messages with radiation warning every day, and to limit the why that cellphone companies will be able to publish their products, to develop and find ways to limit the public danger from cellphone radiation.

I was lucky to present a short presentation about the unknown side to radiation and about electromagnetic hyper sensitivity, It was the first time that an EHS person appeared in a meeting in the Israeli parlament and the first time that the issue of Electromagnetic Hyper sensitivity was addressed by other people in the convention.

Please note that Israel is a small country but it is the world leader on cellphone use, maybe we can also be world leader in awareness for EHS and RF/ELF dangers.

The WHO (http://www.who.int/en/) and IARC (http://www.iarc.fr/)resolution from last week about RF radiation being "POSSIBLY CARCINOGENIC TO HUMANS" is a, "Too little, (almost) too late" conclusion. All the science is available for many years now, and a more drastic conclusion should have been accepted years ago. It seems like the conditions for such a soft decision have lately become right as the science pointing out for risk and harm caused by "low power" RF signals like those that are emitted from cellphones, WIFI routers and other wireless devices and equipment, have piled up, and can no longer be rejected or ignored. The WHO and IARC have came under pressure by reality, and they could no longer hold their old view that there is no risk in exposure to RF radiation. The WHO and IARC holdup of their old views, until few days ago, allowed the deployment of wireless networks around the world, while exposing billions of people to this harming RF radiation. Millions of people have been hurt and millions more will be hurt because of this delay, and on the other hand the delay allowed wireless and Cellphone suppliers, manufacturers and distributors to continue, for years, to push back criticism about the safety of their products and services. The soft decision will allow wireless and Cellphone suppliers, manufacturers and distributors to continue to do so for several years until the public will push for a stricter resolution, laws, and regulations.

In the last 30 years the WHO and IARC, and other bodies, refused to even consider RF radiation has having any health effect other than a heating effect. Even today after the revolutionary resolution was accepted, the IARC and the WHO still do not admit, or accept, the science and proof that point out the facts that low level RF radiation can cause DNA breaks, break blood brain barrier, oxidant stress, and many more influences of RF and ELF radiation. Their view on the matter was that RF radiation that is emitted from cellphones and other wireless equipment does not have enough energy to cause real damages, and for years they continue to argue that (like a broken record) and while people got sick and paid a big price for the WHO lack of understanding. Some people would even say the WHO opinion was shaped by political and financial pressure from the industry.

The resolution was based on the results of the interphone study (The intephone study that was finished in 2004 and which results were published after more than 5 years of delay in 2010 and which are consider to be a low assessment and show 40% increased risk to people who used the mobile phone for more than 27 minutes per day), 2 additional new studies that were just published and which are part of the interphone study () , several studies that were done by prof. Lennart Hardell, and a study that was done by Yael Stein and Elihu Richter from the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Medicine in Jerusalem (). All of these research showed a link between exposure to RF radiation and cancer.

In the next few years cellphone companies, manufacturers and distributors, backed up by paid science will try to buy more time on the expense of our health. They will argue that "cell phones today emit less RF radiation that they used to, and that new generations of cell phones will emit even less". They will try to discredit the science that shows the link between RF radiation and cancer, and will try to prove otherwise. They will do anything in their power to stop new laws and regulations that could protect the public and will then say that they act within laws and regulation. They will try to buy their way into committees and decision making boards and will try to influence the future, all so they can make an extra dollar before the public will understand the truth. We must do our best to show the truth and to prevent this from happening.

· The construction department in the Ministry of Education will be responsible to deal with the problems found, including in some cases evacuation of students from problematic classrooms, and reporting the problems to the Israeli eclectic company and to the school in question so they will fix the problems.
