New bill that will require health related warning for cell phone past the preliminary vote( 3 more votes to go until final approval) in the Knesset (Israeli parliament). The new bill was issued by MK Yulia Shamalov Berkovich and Dov Khenin will require all cellphones that are sold in Israel, and all advertisements to will be published and displayed in Israel, to have a label with health warning.
The text of the warning will be "Warning - the Health Ministry cautions that heavy use and carrying the device next to the body may increase the risk of cancer, especially among children."
So far it seems the bill will have the support of the environmental protection and the health ministry, but might be blocked by the communication and economic ministry. It is also expected to raise the objection of cellphone companies that will not want the public to fear from extensive cellphone use.
The new bill is important since it will warn the public from excessive cellphone use and also because it will increase awareness to RF health risks.
